The staging area is where cards are drawn from reserve to get ready to go into play. During the ready decrement phase mentioned in workflow, all cards of both sides decrease ready value by 1 and if card's current ready reaches 0, it leaves the staging area into play. The animated ability can put cards from graveyard to staging area. Other than that the reclaim activity puts cards into reserve which will be put into staging area. Rush ability decreases ready of cards on user's side, harass increases ready of cards on opposite side, and sabotage removes single opposing unit in staging area with highest current ready, into graveyard. No cards will enter the staging area if the reserve has no more cards, and no animated units or spells are available.
The drawing area is indicated as the top area and bottom area which cards in the area have large ready values above them.
